Islamabad : The people of Pakistan are already under the burden of historic inflation. Meanwhile, the Shahbaz government has hurled a huge ‘petrol bomb’ on the people. Bowing to the conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Government of Pakistan has made a historic increase in the prices of petrol. Pakistan wants to get loan from IMF in any situation and for this the government has come up with a ‘mini-budget’. After an increase of Rs 22.20 in the crisis-hit country, the price of petrol has gone up to Rs 272 per liter. This was informed in a press release issued by the Finance Department on Wednesday.

According to the news of Pakistani news website Geo TV, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs 17.20 to Rs 280 per liter. Kerosene oil (kerosene) is now available at Rs 202.73 per liter after an increase of Rs 12.90. Meanwhile, light diesel will be available at Rs 196.68 per liter after an increase of Rs 9.68. Inflation rate will go up to 33 percent

The increase in the price of petroleum products was one of the key conditions of the IMF. Petrol-diesel prices are already at a record high level in Pakistan. Katrina L, senior economist with Moody’s Analytics, predicted that inflation in Pakistan could average 33 per cent in the first half of 2023 before easing. He also said that the IMF’s relief package alone cannot bring Pakistan’s economy back on track.

Will get only $ 1.1 billion from IMF

Through the ‘mini-budget’, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government seeks to reduce the budget deficit and increase its tax collection. Pakistan is currently in the grip of a severe economic crisis. According to the news, its foreign exchange reserves have reduced to less than $ 3 billion. The government has imposed new taxes on the public to collect 170 billion rupees. Even after doing all this, he will get only 1.1 billion dollars from IMF, which is not enough for Pakistan at present.
