IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals captain and wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has been fined 30% in yesterday's match against Delhi. This fine has been imposed on him for not accepting the umpire's decision and arguing. In yesterday's match, Sanju scored 86 runs in 46 balls, which included 6 sixes and 8 fours.
Why did Sanju Samson argue with the umpire?
Actually, on Tuesday, Delhi defeated Rajasthan by 20 runs. What was most controversial during this period was Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson's catch out at the hands of Shay Hope. After which Rajasthan's innings faltered and the team had to face defeat.
Let us tell you, Sanju was batting well, then in the 16th over he played a tremendous shot at long on on a good length ball from Mukesh. But, Shay Hope, standing near the boundary, took the catch where his foot was found very close to the boundary. On this, the third umpire took a decision after seeing the replays from several angles and declared him out.
However, in this replay, from an angle it appeared that Hope's foot was adjacent to the boundary line. Due to this, the batsman objected to the decision and clashed with the umpire. With this he started asking for one more review. Which was refused by on-field umpires KN Ananthapadmanabhan and Ulhas Gandhe and Sanju had to go back.
Reason for 30% match fine
According to the IPL Code of Conduct, Sanju Samson has committed a Level-1 offense of Article 2.8. The player has accepted this decision of BCCI and has also accepted the decision of the umpire. Let us tell you, according to the IPL Code of Conduct, the decision of the match referee is final and binding, for violating which Samson has been fined 30% of the match.
