A red alert of heavy rain was issued in Mumbai from 1 pm for the next 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory for Mumbaikars. Normally, Colaba center receives 2,240 mm and Santa Cruz center receives 2705 mm of rain during the entire monsoon season. Out of this 42 percent rain has been recorded in Colaba and 38 percent in Santa Cruz. Since last Monday, the process of rain continues in Mumbai. In the last 24 hours, 110.6 mm of rain has been recorded in Colaba center and 125 mm in Santacruz center. Regional Meteorological Department Deputy Director Jayant Sarkar said that the monsoon current has become strong. Due to this, heavy rainfall is occurring at many places in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.

Along with this, a red alert has been issued in Raigad and Ratnagiri on Saturday, while orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar from July 9 to 11.

One week of rain in July has also broken the record of last year. Last year, till July 6 in 2021, Colaba center recorded 714.6 mm and Santa Cruz center 987 mm, while this year till 6 July, Colaba has received 953.2 mm and Santacruz 1051.1 mm.

Jayant Sarkar said that the main reason for the monsoon activity is the low pressure area, which has now moved towards South Pakistan. Apart from this, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Southwest region. Simultaneously, off shore turf from South Coastal Maharashtra is moving towards North Coastal direction of Kerala. Due to all these Monsoon system, the Ghat complexes of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra are receiving heavy rainfall.

Auto fare hiked by Rs 10
Vasai-Virar remained waterlogged on Thursday due to torrential rains. Due to this common people did not get autos in many places. From Evershine City to Nalasopara station, auto drivers charge an additional fare of Rs 10. Its auto drivers gave the reason that they would have to take autos from long routes. Usually autos go through Achole village or Achole pond, but on Thursday, there was water above the waist till Chandan Naka in front of Achole pond, so the auto people were taking the public to the station via D Mart and bringing Evershine City through this way. . The area near the municipal building in Nalasopara (West) remained waterlogged throughout the day. Due to this many vehicles were stopping midway.
