Bangalore. After finishing second at the Commonwealth Games impressively, the Indian hockey team is looking forward to leave the 2018 FIH World Cup disappointment behind in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Indian team will play against England, Spain and Wales in Group D at the FIH Odisha Hockey World Cup Bhubaneswar-Rourkela 2023.
Veteran forward Lalit Upadhyay said the Indian team is fortunate to have got a golden opportunity to set records straight in front of the home fans.
“Unfortunately, we had a goal in the last minutes of the quarterfinal match in the last World Cup in Bhubaneswar, but the team has improved a lot since then, we are considered serious contenders for the title,” he said. Our aim now is to take advantage. Hopefully we will win the gold medal for sure.
Lalit Upadhyay debuted for the national team in 2014 and scored 31 goals in 133 matches and led the forward-line for the team along with Mandeep Singh.
Lalit said, I feel very proud to wear the Indian jersey every time I step on the field, always keeping in mind that this could be my last match, so focus on doing well in the same way. Am. Over the years, I have gained more consistency in my game and am proud to be considered one of the senior players in the team.
