Kuldeep and Chahal will be seen together
Mumbai. Opener Rohit Sharma will be the captain of the Indian cricket team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya has got the responsibility of vice-captain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the 15-member Indian team for the World Cup. The T20 World Cup will be played in West Indies and United States from June 1.
Young Yashasvi Jaiswal has also been included in the Indian team along with experienced batsman Virat Kohli. Apart from this, Suryakumar Yadav has also been included in the team. Whereas both Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been included in the team as wicketkeeper batsmen. Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel will be seen as all-rounders.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have got opportunity among the spinners. Left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has also been included in the team. Jasprit Bumrah will take charge of the fast bowlers, along with him young Mohammad Siraj has also got a place. Whereas Shubhman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khalil Ahmed and Avesh Khan will be the reserve players.
Rishabh will be the main wicketkeeper
Rishabh, who returned from the Indian Premier League, won the T20 World Cup ticket on the basis of his strong performance. The selectors have given him a place in the team as the main wicketkeeper. Sanju Samson has been included in the team as the second wicketkeeper.
Shubman Gill-Rinku Singh in reserve
Shubhman Gill and Rinku Singh have not been included in the 15-member squad. Both these cricketers have been included in the reserve players. Fast bowlers Khalil Ahmed and Avesh Khan are also included in the list of reserve players.
Trust in Hardik Pandya
The selectors have kept faith in all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Pandya has been retained as the vice-captain of the team. Apart from Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey has also been selected as an all-rounder in the team. Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel have been given place in spin all-rounders.
The Indian team will start its campaign in the World Cup on 05 June 2024 with a match against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After this, the match between India and Pakistan will be held here on 09 June 2024.
