Russia does not accept NATO membership
Dmitry Medvedev told a French television interview that Russia was ready to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky under certain conditions. Even before the February invasion, Moscow had made it clear that Ukrainian membership of NATO was unacceptable to it. But Ukraine then did not heed Russia’s requests at all and, under the guise of Western countries, insisted on joining NATO. He also said that while it is still important to renounce Ukraine’s participation in NATO, doing just that is not enough to establish peace.
Russian campaign will not stop until the target continues
He said Russia would continue the campaign until its goals were achieved. Putin says he wants to free Ukraine from Nazism. At the same time, Ukraine and Western countries claim that this is a baseless excuse for war. After the offensive began, Russia and Ukraine held several rounds of talks, but to no avail. In such a situation, there is very little chance of resumption of talks. The talks between Russia and Ukraine were mediated by Turkey, whose drones were the reason for the start of this war. In fact, with the help of TB-2 drones purchased from Turkey, Ukraine carried out attacks on Russian-backed rebels in the Donbass.
Medvedev’s warning on American weapons
Medvedev said that it (talks) would depend on how the situation would be at that time. We (Zelensky) were ready before we met. He also said that American weapons already supplied to Ukraine – such as the HIMARS multi-rocket launcher – have not yet posed a major threat. But that could change if the weapons sent from the US could hit targets at longer ranges, he said. This means that when such a missile flies 70 km, it is one thing. But, when it goes to 300-400 km, it will become another thing. As such, it would be a direct threat to the territory of the Russian Federation.
