At present, the price of a dozen bananas in Pakistan has reached Rs 500. Apart from this, grapes are being sold at Rs 1600 per kg. Onion prices have increased by 228.28 per cent. While the price of flour has increased by 120.66 percent. In the past, the prices of 51 things have been tracked in the country and everything has become costlier many times. Banana prices have increased by 89.84 per cent. Diesel is currently being sold costlier by 102.84 per cent and petrol by 81.17 per cent in the country. While if we talk about eggs, then its price has increased by about 80 percent. Pakistan’s economic crisis is getting deeper with each passing day.
Inflation increased by 47 percent
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), inflation based on the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) has been recorded at 47 percent year-on-year for the week ending March 22. An IMF official has said that the relief package for the country is now stuck between Pakistan and international creditors. It has been said on behalf of Reuters that Pakistan and its lending countries will have to sign a proposed fuel price scheme and after that the issue will be resolved.
Debt negotiations continue
Negotiations are on for an agreement for a loan of $ 1.1 billion between both Pakistan and the IMF. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced higher fees for fuel to the rich and influential customers. He had said that whatever amount would be received from this would be used to subsidize the prices for the poor. Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Mussadiq Malik said his government has been given six weeks to work on a fuel pricing plan.
