According to ET’s report, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) may launch only incoming and SMS only plans for dual SIM users. Means only incoming calls and SMS facility will be available in these plans. This will be best for those users who want to keep dual sim active. With this, the recharge of the second SIM will be halved.
Dual SIM holders enjoy
However, telecom players are not liking this plan of the government. However, the government believes that at present, a large population is not able to enjoy the facility of mobile tariff at an affordable price. In such a situation, the idea of low cost incoming calls and SMS only plans has been presented by the government to the telecom companies. This will help in adding new users. The incoming calling and SMS only pack can cost less than half of the regular plan.
Telecom companies are not liking the plan
Telecom players such as Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea say that such plans will not help in increasing the average revenue per user (ARPU). According to the telecom firm, whether it is an incoming or outgoing network, both will be used. With this, the reports of the telecom sector will be used. Whereas in return the earnings will be less, which can harm the telecom companies.
