Singla, who cleared the exam in her second attempt, said she mainly did self-study. He credits his success to his father. She said that I used to study for nine to ten hours a day. I took coaching from Vinod sir in Patiala. I spent most of my time studying on my own to prepare for the exam and finally I passed. My father was instrumental in helping me prepare for the exam.
Singla’s parents are working as medical officers in the Himachal Pradesh government. Asked about the top three ranks women have achieved in the exam, she said, “It shows that women are capable of achieving anything with their hard work and dedication.” Singla, who holds a BTech degree in Computer Science, had kept sociology as an optional subject.
The Union Public Service Commission said that a total of 685 candidates, including 508 men and 177 women, passed the examination and the commission has recommended their names for appointment to various central services.
