In Rath Nagar of Hamirpur district, there is a big problem for water during the summer season. The decades-old drinking water scheme operated by the Jal Sansthan is also spoken here. In order to get rid of the water crisis, in the year 2016, a project worth Rs 9434.78 lakh was given for supply of water through pipeline from Maudha Dam to Rath in Akhilesh Yadav’s government. Initially, an amount of ten crores was also released to Jal Nigam, but after the departure of Akhilesh Yadav’s government, the drinking water scheme was in trouble. To get this project running on the ground, the then MLA of Rath region, Gayadin Anuragi, also did a great exercise.
Over head tank built with a fund of twenty crores
Mohit Verma, executive engineer of Jal Nigam, said on Thursday that there is a provision to lay a 20 km long underground pipeline from Maudha Dam (dam) to Rath Nagar. Initially, an amount of ten crore rupees was received from the government, then a fund of ten crore rupees was received later. So far, three overhead tanks have been made with this amount. Verma informed that two overhead tanks of 2000 KL each have been constructed, while one overhead tank of 1200 KL capacity has been made. He said that two and a half thousand meters of pipeline has also been laid underground. Apart from this, other technical works have also been done.
Water supply will be done through drinking water scheme in two years
Mohit Verma, ex-in of Jalnigam Hamirpur, said that during the Corona transition period, no fund was received in the drinking water scheme, which has affected its construction works. He said that after a long time, the government has again released an amount of ten crores to speed up the works of drinking water scheme. As soon as this amount is received, the construction works of the project will be accelerated. An intake well has also been built under the project at Maudaha Dam. He said that 32 per cent work has been done so far and there is a plan to start the construction work of drinking water scheme after completing it in two years.

Now in the Yogi government, a fund of Rs 10 crore has been released again to speed up the works of this drinking water scheme.
