In West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party President Sukanta Majumdar on Monday attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the issue of Missionaries of Charity. He alleged that Banerjee is more active than Asaduddin Owaisi in instigating communal politics in the country.
Speaking to the media, Majumdar said, “Banerjee is more active than Asaduddin Owaisi in promoting communal politics in the country. Banerjee’s place has come above Asaduddin Owaisi in communal politics. Majumdar alleged that she has started giving money to Maulana, Muazzim and she is trying to do the same with the Christian community. Majumdara said it is the habit of Mamata Banerjee to drag the central government and religious angle into everything.
“She wants to create unrest in the country. This will benefit those neighboring countries who want to create trouble in India. What is Banerjee’s interest in this? They should avoid such habit.
what was the whole matter
In fact, Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee said in a tweet that I am shocked to hear that on Christmas, the Union Ministry froze all the bank accounts of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in India. His 22,000 patients and staff were left without food and medicines. He further said that even though law is paramount, humanitarian efforts should not be compromised.
Apart from Mamata Banerjee, CPM leader Suryakant Mishra wrote on Twitter that on Christmas Day, the Union Ministry froze all bank accounts of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity. The government has frozen all accounts including cash in India.
No account was frozen, the reply of the Ministry of Home Affairs came
There has also been a response from the Ministry of Home Affairs on this whole matter. On behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has been said that it has not frozen any account of the Missionaries of Charity. It has also claimed that the organization itself had sent a request to the State Bank of India to suspend its accounts. The Ministry of Home Affairs had refused the Missionaries of Charity’s application for FCRA renewal. This was done due to non-fulfillment of eligibility conditions. The MoC’s application for renewal of FCRA registration was rejected on 25 December for not fulfilling the eligibility conditions under FCRA 2010 and Foreign Contribution Regulation. The FCRA registration was valid till December 31, 2021 and the MHA did not freeze any accounts of the missionaries.
There was no stop, BJP targeted
The Missionaries of Charity states that FCRA registration has neither been suspended nor revoked. Apart from this, no restriction has been ordered from MHA on any of our bank accounts. At the same time, BJP is attacking Mamta Banerjee on this whole matter. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said that the Chief Minister should apologise, he posted such wrong news from his Twitter handle. The Home Ministry has given a complete explanation. This is bad politics.
