11 people have died in the Beleshwar Mahadev temple accident in Indore. Home Minister Narottam Mishra has confirmed the death of 11 people. Right now the rescue operation is going on at the spot. The Home Minister said that 11 bodies have been retrieved. There are 10 women and one man in it. 19 people have been rescued safely. Along with this, orders have been given for investigation. Some people are still stranded.
Indore officials have informed that women and children are among those who fell into the stepwell. According to officials, after the accident at Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple in Patel Nagar, 19 people have so far been rescued and taken to a nearby hospital, out of which two people have been put on life support. An eyewitness told that during the religious program, a large crowd of devotees had gathered on the roof of the ancient stepwell in the temple. After the news of the collapse of the stepwell’s roof, a crowd of worried people gathered around the temple, whose relatives were present in the temple at the time of the accident.
Kantibhai Patel, president of the Patel Nagar Residents Union, expressed displeasure over the fact that even after being informed about the accident, the ambulance did not reach the spot for an hour. The residents told that the temple was built by putting a roof on the ancient stepwell. Meanwhile, District Magistrate Dr Ilaiyaraaja T said that around 25 devotees had fallen into the stepwell in the accident, out of which 19 people have been pulled out and taken to hospital and rescue operation is on. He told that there is a possibility of death of some people in the accident.
The Collector said that the administration will identify such public places where such accidents are likely to happen and necessary security arrangements will be made there. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in Bhopal that we have put all our efforts to get people out safely. We will soon get the rest of the people out of the stepwell. Shivraj said that he has instructed the Indore District Magistrate and Police Commissioner to speed up the rescue operation. The Chief Minister said that the Chief Minister’s Office is constantly in touch with the Indore district administration regarding this incident.
At the same time, PM Modi tweeted that he is deeply saddened by the incident in Indore. Spoke to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and inquired about the latest situation. The state government is carrying out rapid rescue and relief operations. My prayers with all those affected and their families.
