The Chief Minister also said that the government has ordered the inspection of wells in the entire state. All such wells which have been covered will be investigated so that such incidents do not happen in future.
Shivraj reached Indore at around 9.30 am and went straight to Apple Hospital. After this he also visited the spot and inquired about the rescue operation. He gave necessary instructions to the officials to evacuate the people trapped in the well. During this, many MLAs and top officials were with him.
On the occasion of Ramnavami, many people fell into the stepwell in Patel Nagar’s Beleshwar Mahadev Temple when the roof of the stepwell collapsed. So far 35 bodies have been retrieved in the rescue operation of NDRF and Army along with the local administration. Some people are still feared trapped in the well and the rescue work is still going on. The state government has announced compensation for the dead and injured. The CM said on Thursday that the kin of the deceased would be given an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh, while the injured would be given Rs 50,000.
