Apart from Bundelkhand, Kanwariyas from all the areas of neighboring Madhya Pradesh will come here and perform Jalabhishek of Lord Bholenath. After this, in the afternoon, the procession of Shiv procession will be taken out with pomp in the whole city. This time too many elephants, horses and panoramic tableaux will also be included in the procession. The birds will dance even more in the Shiva procession. Thousands of people are expected to throng to see this event. The work of making tableaux for the procession of Shiva procession has also been started.
Shalleshwar temple was built during the Gupta period
Social worker Mahendra Rajput and historian Dr. BD Prajapati told that Shalleshwar Dham temple is one of the oldest Shivling in Sarila. Looking at the monastery built here, it seems that it was built between the Gupta period and the Chandel period, but seeing the Shivling, it seems that it was built before the Chandel period. Due to the dome wall in the monastery, the temple appears to be of Chandela period. Presently this temple has been beautified.
The lineage of Sarila State started from Naresh Chhatrasal
Mahendra Singh Rajput, a social worker of Sarila town, told that the lineage of Sarila State started from Maharaj Chhatrasal and today it is a tehsil of Sarila State Hamirpur. In Bundelkhand, the Gupta period is considered as the Golden Age. Temples, caves and architecture emerged in the Sarila region during the Gupta period, while there is no mention of temples before this. The expansion of the temples built during the Gupta period remained at its peak till the Chandela period.
Temples of Virbhoomi have been under Muslim rulers
Historian Dr. Bhawanidin Prajapati told that the Chandelas’ empire was established in the 9th century in the areas of Bundelkhand region. The first ruler in the Chandel period was Chandravardhana, who was a Chandravanshi Kshatriya. Most of the temples in the region were built during the Chandela reign. King Parmal went to Kalinjar in 1202 after he was defeated by Qutubuddin Aibak. After his departure, the areas of Veer Bhoomi including Sarila were under Muslim rulers.
