Round of meetings between BJP leaders and Raj Thackeray
The consensus on the alliance has not been reached in a day or two. Many BJP leaders have come to Raj Thackeray’s house at Shivtirth and held meetings for hours. Every angle of profit and loss has been discussed, then the matter has reached till the announcement of the alliance. Be it the current Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, former state president Chandrakant Patil or the current state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, all the leaders had long meetings with Raj Thackeray in the past. Let us tell you that the BMC elections are going to be held in a few months. Due to which this alliance is considered very important. This time BJP wants to oust Shiv Sena from BMC at any cost. For which the alliance with MNS can be sealed.
BJP-MNS alliance and Shinde faction
In view of the BMC elections, if the MNS and the BJP happen, what will happen to the candidates of the Shinde faction? According to a leader of the Shinde faction, at present, the chances of a formal announcement of this alliance are very less. Until it is decided that what will be the role of Shinde faction in this BMC election? Because it will not be possible for BJP to ignore him too. However, BJP leader Sanjay Pandey says that all the Hindutva forces of the country should come together with Narendra Modi. At the same time, BJP leader Vinod Mishra in BMC says that BJP alone is capable of winning this election, but the decision taken by the high command will be acceptable to all of us.
BJP wants to make MNS vote cut!
It is known to all that the political strength of MNS is zero at present. No one can say with certainty about how many seats she will win. However, seeing the influence of MNS among Marathi voters, BJP wants to use it as a vote-cutting party, so that it can defeat Shiv Sena. Obviously, in the BMC elections, the BJP’s fight is mainly with Shiv Sena and Shiv Sena’s strength lies in the Marathi voters.
Not an open alliance, preparation for a strategic partnership
In the BMC elections, the BJP’s major burden is on the North Indian Hindi-speaking voters, so the BJP is also shying away from forging an open alliance with Raj. There is an internal effort that even though there may not be an open alliance with Raj, but a strategic partnership should be made in some seats. BJP leaders feel that there will be no threat of displeasure of North Indian voters with the hidden alliance.
Who got how many seats in the last election
During the BMC elections held in the year 2017, Shiv Sena became the single largest party with 84 seats. Whereas BJP got 82 seats. Congress won 31 seats, NCP 9 and MNS 7 seats. Shiv Sena and BJP did not form an alliance in this election. At present, there are 227 seats in BMC and 114 seats are required for majority. In the previous elections, Shiv Sena had got 75 seats while BJP had to win 31, Congress 54 and NCP 13 seats.
