Strike in Rajasthan since 13 days
Health services remained closed in private hospitals of Rajasthan for the 13th day on Friday. Due to this, there has been an additional patient load on the hospitals and health centers run by the government. Government hospitals are burdened. On the other hand, those resident doctors who have gone in support of private hospitals have also increased the problems of hospitals dealing with emergency cases. A section of resident doctors has gone on strike against private doctors.
In Rajasthan, the elective surgery of the health arrangements on the stretcher has been postponed indefinitely. Only emergency and OPD services are available. Many patients are being sent home for the time being to treat their complaints after first aid or with prescription drugs. Patients are taking chemist’s advice for minor treatment. Many patients are adopting home remedies. Mohammad Sajid, who came to Jaipur from Jhunjhunu for hand surgery, said, ‘The doctor refused to admit me and asked me to come back after the strike is over.
Patients are going to other states
Dr. Achal Sharma, superintendent of SMS Hospital of Jaipur, the state’s largest government health center, says that ‘due to the strike, patients from other states have stopped coming to Rajasthan for the time being’. Rajasthan attracts a large number of patients from neighboring states because of its relatively better healthcare facilities.
Here, in support of private hospitals, 1,800 resident doctors of government hospitals attached to medical colleges have joined the strike. However, district and sub-district hospitals, satellite hospitals and community health centers and primary health centers have remained virtually unaffected. Meanwhile, Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena reiterated that the bill was passed for the benefit of the common man. This will be implemented at any cost.
