Dr. Naresh Trehan- If there is a blockage in the heart artery of the patient and he does not know about it, then it happens.
Like nowadays many celebrities are not aware and they keep on exercising. Due to exercise, the demand for blood increases in the body, but due to blockage, pumping is not done properly, so people become victims of cardiac arrest.
Question- Statistics say that giving CPR to a patient after a heart attack increases the chances of survival?
Dr Naresh Trehan- If a person has a heart attack, then his life can be saved by giving CPR. However, there are 2 nomenclatures of giving CPR. First basic and second advanced life support.
A patient’s life can be saved by giving basic level CPR. Also understand that 100% life cannot be saved by this measure, but it can be saved to a great extent.
Question- What is CPR?
Dr Naresh Trehan – The full form of CPR is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This is a life saving technique, which is used during a heart attack. If a person’s heart stops beating, then CPR works as a life saving while traveling from home to the hospital.
CPR is required in these 3 situations
Someone suddenly faints and is unable to breathe.
During an accident, a person may have difficulty in breathing.
If a person has drowned in water, after taking him out
The method of giving CPR to a child is different from that of an adult.
Lie the baby straight on his back and kneel next to him.
Use two fingers to give the child CPR.
Give light pressure on the chest, apply pressure only up to 1/2 to 2 inches.
Question- What is the benefit of giving CPR?
Dr. Naresh Trehan- It helps the patient to breathe. Helps in blood circulation to the heart and brain. As I have already mentioned that in many cases, with the help of CPR, a person’s life is saved.
Before proceeding, take a look at these figures-
Giving CPR can save 4 out of 10 lives.
20% of people in the US are trained in CPR.
Only 2% of the people in India know how to pay CPR.
Question- Many people under 40 years of age have lost their lives due to heart attack, is there any data for this?
