On the other hand, Ashwin has taken wickets at an average of 24.2 and a strike rate of 52.3.
With the wicket of Dhananjaya, Ashwin overtook Steyn in terms of wickets in Tests. Steyn had 439 wickets in 93 Tests. He played his last Test match in 2019. Ashwin overtook him in his 86th Test match. However, Steyn is better than Ashwin in terms of average and strike rate. Steyn took 439 wickets at an average of 22.95 and a strike rate of 42.3. On the other hand, Ashwin has taken wickets at an average of 24.2 and a strike rate of 52.3.
After leaving Steyn behind, Ashwin has reached number 8 in the list of bowlers with the most wickets in Tests. Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan holds the world record for taking most wickets in Test matches. In a career of 133 matches, Murali took 800 wickets. Shane Warne’s name is at number two in the list. Warne, who played 145 Tests, took 708 wickets.
