Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel took two wickets each for Bangalore. Akash Deep took a wicket. Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Mumbai Indians opener Ishan Kishan and captain Rohit Sharma made a great start. Both scored 49 runs without losing a wicket in the powerplay, but Patel, who came to bowl after the powerplay, sent captain Rohit (26) to the pavilion. After this, Ishaan and Dewald Brevis took the innings forward.
During this, both made some good shots, but Brevis (8) fell lbw off Hasranga’s delivery, taking Mumbai’s score to 60 for the loss of two wickets in 8.3 overs. However, due to excellent bowling by RCB bowlers, Mumbai’s condition became very bad as Ishaan (26) was caught by Mohammad Siraj off Akash Deep’s delivery. Tilak Verma who came after this also kept walking without opening an account. The MI innings was in complete turmoil with the fall of two consecutive wickets and half of Mumbai’s team returned to the pavilion within 62 runs as Hasaranga cheaply dealt Pollard (1).
After this Suryakumar Yadav and Ramandeep Singh played patiently and scored important runs for the team. But Ramandeep (6) too soon returned to the pavilion off Harshal, taking Mumbai’s score to 80 for the loss of six wickets after 14 overs. Suryakumar played some big shots to take Mumbai’s score to 100 in 16.2 overs. Jaydev Unadkat was supporting him at the other end. Both of them batted brilliantly, as MI added 121 runs after 18 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Suryakumar completed the second consecutive half-century of the season in 32 balls by hitting a shot off Siraj, who came to bowl the 19th over. He also took 22 runs in his over. At the same time, Harshal, who came to bowl the 20th over, bowled economical and gave only 7 runs, due to which Mumbai scored 151 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Suryakumar (68 off 37 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes) and Unadkat remained unbeaten on 13. There was a wonderful unbeaten partnership of 72 runs in 41 balls between the two. Now Bangalore will have to score 152 runs in 120 balls to win.
