Babar Azam and Mohammad Wasim are face to face with the team batsman Shan Masood. Wasim believes that Masood should bat in the middle order for Pakistan. On the other hand, Babar Azam wants to open him only. Shan Masood is primarily an opener and has come out to bat at number-3 for Pakistan only 3 times in 52 innings. He has only opened in 49 innings.
Wasim said in a YouTube show that top-order batsman Shan Masood will have to play in the middle order. “I proudly said that he should bat in the middle order so that we will have proof to tell people that he can change the game for us,” he said. Masood was dropped from the Pakistan team for being dismissed without opening an account in three consecutive innings on the 2020-21 New Zealand tour.
Babar’s opinion
Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s thinking is completely different from that of Mohammad Wasim. Talking to the media ahead of the ODI series against West Indies, he said, ‘Shan Masood has played in the top order. He never batted down. If it will not be right to play Shaan at 5th or 6th number. We are monitoring the situation and accordingly the batting order will be decided.
Last ODI played in 2019
Shan Masood played the last ODI for Pakistan in 2019. Fifty came out of his bat in that. After that he didn’t get a chance again. He has done exceptionally well in county cricket and T20 blast in England.
