Melbourne: Flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant feels there is a different atmosphere when players take to the field during an India-Pakistan match. It will be visible during the T20 World Cup match in Melbourne on Sunday. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is set to host this great match, where both the teams will start their respective Super 12 campaigns. The India-Pakistan match is expected to attract 100,000 spectators.
India, led by opener Rohit Sharma, would like to start their campaign with a winning streak. In the opening match of the 2021 T20 World Cup, India lost to the same opposition team by ten wickets. “It is always special to play against Pakistan because there is a special excitement about that match as always. It involves a lot of emotion not only for us but for the fans and everyone.’
Pant said, “It is a different feeling, a different kind of atmosphere, when you go on the field and when you come out on the field, you see people cheering here and there. It is a different feeling and when we are singing our national anthem, the excitement is really at its peak.’
Recalling that match in Dubai, Pant said, ‘I remember hitting Hasan Ali for two sixes in the same over. We were trying to increase the run rate because we lost early wickets and Virat and I shared a partnership. We were increasing the run rate and I hit him for two sixes with one hand. Pant expressed hope of getting a chance to bat with Kohli at the MCG on Sunday.
