Sonpur (Odisha). As India will play their first match in the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup against Spain on Friday at 7 PM at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, the people of Odisha are sending their best wishes to the Indian team. Renowned artist of the state and Padma Shri awardee Sudarshan Patnaik has created a rich Husk mosaic art in Sonepur on the theme of World Cup Hockey with the message Chak De India.
Patnaik, on the invitation of District Administration, Sonepur Mahotsav, designed rice husk mosaic art of World Cup Hockey Trophy to cheer Team India and also to send a message to the world that art can be made out of anything .
The rice husk mosaic art has been made in an area of 4682 square feet using around 100 bags of rice husk with the help of 10 students of his institute at the indoor stadium in Sonpur. The mosaic art was created in six hours.
Patnaik said, this art will be displayed in the Sonepur festival which is going to start from January 14. After the end of the exhibition, all the rice husk will be returned to the owners for its reuse.
It was an overwhelming experience for him as he was joined by many school students and he got an opportunity to interact with the students and teach them about art.
