In fact, complaints are being received by the UGC that many institutes take original documents for admission and when students apply for cancellation of admission, the institutes are reluctant to return the documents and do not refund the fees as per the rules. For the session 2022-23, the UGC has made a rule that students who cancel their admission in an institute by October 31 or there will be migration, then there will be no deduction in the fee of the student. Full fee will be refunded. No charge will be deducted. There will be zero cancellation charge, this provision has been implemented for this year only. At the same time, only Rs 1000 will be deducted from the fees deposited by the students who will get the admission canceled or shift to another place from November 1 to December 31. This 1000 rupees will be deducted as processing fee. Apart from this, all the fees will have to be returned to the institute. Strict action has been recommended against the institutions that do not follow the rules.
In fact, due to the Covid epidemic, the academic session is running late and due to this there is some delay in the entrance test for engineering, undergraduate courses this time too. Where admission in the university used to be done in July-August, this time the process of CUET for admission has been completed with a delay. In such a situation, considering this session as a special case, the UGC had also made some changes in the fee refund policy and added some new provisions in the fee refund policy for this year. The date should be fixed keeping in mind the interests of the students. UGC will also keep an eye on the last date of the university.
