Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retained the second spot in the latest ICC Test Bowling Rankings. On the other hand, despite losing the Ashes series, England fast bowler James Anderson has moved up three places to the fifth position on Wednesday.
In the rankings of Test all-rounders, Ashwin is at number two and Ravindra Jadeja, who was ruled out of the three-Test series against South Africa due to injury, is present at the third place.
India’s new ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out of the South Africa Test series due to injury, is at fifth place in the rankings for batsmen, while Test captain Virat Kohli remains at seventh place in the list.
Despite the Ashes loss, James Anderson has finished fifth in the bowling rankings, surpassing New Zealand’s Wagner, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood.
In the Ashes, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has jumped a place to the fifth position in the all-rounders’ rankings. James Anderson’s brilliant 4/33 bowling in the third Ashes Test helped him reach No. 5 in the Test Bowling Rankings.
Match hero Scott Bolland took 6/7 wickets in the second innings as Australia went on to win the Ashes by an innings and 14 runs.
Starc has surpassed Ben Stokes to reach the number 5 spot in the rankings of Test all-rounders. Starc, who took five wickets in two innings in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, performed brilliantly with the bowling.
