Officials said the government has constituted a five-member inquiry commission headed by senior aeronautical engineer Ratish Chandra Lal Suman to find out the cause of the Tara Air plane crash. Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of CAA, told the meeting of the International Committee of Parliament on Monday that preliminary investigation revealed that the plane crashed after turning right instead of turning left due to bad weather.
Plane wreckage found in Mustang
The wreckage of the plane was found on Monday morning at Thasang Rural Municipality-2 in Mustang district. The crash site is located eight nautical miles from Jomsom Airport. Rescuers have so far retrieved 20 bodies from the wreckage of the crashed plane.
Difficulties in rescue work due to rain and difficult terrain
A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) said that one more body has been found but due to rain and difficult terrain, the body has not yet been retrieved. He said that one more person is still missing. He said that 10 bodies have been brought to Kathmandu while 10 bodies have been taken to Pokhara from where they will be brought to Kathmandu. According to a statement issued by CAAN, the plane crashed on Thasang-2 in Mustang district at an altitude of 14,500 feet.
