There has been a sudden increase in the prices of flour in Pakistan, which is facing severe economic crisis. Meanwhile, the Shahbaz government has locked the government depots that provide subsidized wheat to the people in PoK. PoK activist Amjad Ayub Mirza said that people are on the streets because they have no food, no flour.
Flour became costlier by Rs 1200 in a day
He said that the price of wheat in PoK has been increased by Rs 1200 in a single day. People are upset. Locks are hanging on the government centers of flour. There is no flour. Protests are taking place in almost every city of PoK. From students to lawyers, social workers and women are also participating in it. Although the situation is very serious in the whole of Pakistan, but it is even more worrying for PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan. The government of Pakistan has been discriminating against the people here.
Threats of violence against the government
Professor Sajjad Raja shared a video on Twitter. In the video, people are seen protesting in the face of heavy snowfall and severe winter. While sharing the video, he wrote, ‘People are demanding supply of flour in the bitter cold in Neelam Valley of PoK. Pakistan has removed subsidy on all food items for PoK and people are not able to buy flour. The protesters have warned of taking violent steps against the Pakistani government if their demands are not met.
