Bangladesh is paying a heavy price for not condemning Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war. According to the LRT report, a large consignment of Covid-19 vaccine being sent to Bangladesh has been banned. Lithuania was about to send four lakh 40 thousand vaccine doses of Covid-19 vaccine to Bangladesh a week ago. But it was banned because of not voting in the United Nations against Russia.
Lithuania reversed a week-old decision and refused to give Bangladesh a vaccine when Bangladesh abstained from voting on a motion against Russia at the UN General Assembly. The LRT has confirmed in the report that Lithuania voted against Russia in the UN General Assembly. On Wednesday, the 193-member United Nations General Assembly voted on a resolution condemning the Russian attack on Ukraine. In which it was said that Russia should immediately stop its military action on Ukraine.
According to the report, during the discussion in the General Assembly, the representative of Bangladesh says that Bangladesh has always supported peace. Now Ukraine’s crisis is expected to be resolved through diplomatic negotiations. On its decision to abstain from voting, Bangladesh said the resolution contained only the blame for the attack. It did nothing to stop the conflict in Ukraine.
