Students were dancing in a college in Bahawalpur, Pakistan and during this time the principal also joined it and started raining notes. During this, other employees also joined the dance. The video of the principal performing ‘obscene’ dance with the students in the college has created a ruckus on social media. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bahawalpur in Pakistan and Rahim Yar Khan have ordered a probe into “dances and other activities” during college functions in their respective jurisdictions.
The orders were issued after a video clip of an alleged ‘obscene’ dance during a college function went viral on social media, Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported. Police on Wednesday registered a case against 40 people, including the principal, some employees and students of a private college in Hasilpur, for indulging in “obscene” activities. Apart from this, the concerned Assistant Commissioner (AC) has also sealed the college. Earlier, video clips of the college principal, some staff and girls dancing had gone viral on social media, which caught the attention of the district administration, the report said.
DC orders Hasilpur AC to seal the college
In the video clip, girls and boys can be seen dancing on stage during the college function, while the college principal and others also joined them and showered notes on them. Taking cognizance of the video, the DC ordered Hasilpur AC to seal the college and formed a committee under his (AC) chairmanship to probe the matter. A report is to be submitted within three days along with fixing the responsibility of conducting ‘obscene celebrations’ in the college.
According to the FIR, a function was organized by the principal and others where loud songs were played in violation of the Amplifier Act. The report said ‘obscene’ dances were performed during the event and ‘objectionable gestures’ were made by dancers on stage and others in the hall. The complainant termed the program as “violation of educational, moral and social values” and demanded action against the principal and his associates. Police said that no one has been arrested so far.
