- Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has called the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine for an urgent meeting.
- Actually this Kakhovka dam has been seized at the beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. It exclusively supplies water to Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.
- This dam is also very important because it also provides cooling water to the Joporijia nuclear plant. The International Atomic Energy Agency has said that the nuclear plant will not be affected immediately by the stoppage of water flow, but it is monitoring its condition closely.
- Vladimir Leontiev of the Russian Administration of Nova Kakhovka said that several missile attacks have been made on the Kakhovka Dam from the side of Ukraine. Due to this the gate of the dam was destroyed and the uncontrollable flow of water continued.
- At present, it has not been estimated how much flood water due to the breaking of this dam will affect Ukraine’s ongoing war against Russia. While its effect is visible in eastern and southern Ukraine.
