India has expressed strong objection to Erdogan’s rhetoric
In recent years, Erdogan has referred to the Kashmir issue several times in high-level sessions of the UN General Assembly. This has created tension in relations between India and Turkey. India has in the past strongly objected to Erdogan’s rhetoric, terming it completely unacceptable. India has been saying that Turkey should learn to respect the sovereignty of other countries and reflect this more deeply in its policies. This is the reason why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has avoided traveling to Turkey till date.
Had met PM Modi on Friday itself
Erdogan on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Uzbekistan city of Samarkand. During the meeting in Samarkand, they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to deepen cooperation in various fields. After this meeting, there was a possibility that bilateral relations between India and Turkey would improve. The sudden meeting of the two leaders on the sidelines of the SCO summit had also shocked the whole world. But, only a few days after this meeting, Erdogan’s rhetoric about Kashmir can further increase the tension between the two countries.
Erdogan is close to Pakistan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s love for Pakistan is not hidden from anyone. Erdogan is trying to make himself the new caliph of Islamic countries with the help of Pakistan and China. This is the reason why he keeps spewing venom against India every day. When the United Nations General Assembly was organized last year, Erdogan raised the issue of Kashmir and said that Pakistan’s right on it. Apart from this, he has been spewing venom on Kashmir in talks with the heads of state of Pakistan.
