Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will be closest to Earth on 1 February 2023. During this, its distance from the Earth will be only 0.28 AU or about 41 km. According to the online astronomy guide, on February 1, the comet will be visible in the Indian sky throughout the night. Since it is circumpolar, it will remain above the horizon all night. According to Earth Sky, this comet is coming so close to the Earth for the first time in 50 thousand years.

It can reach its highest point on February 12 at 10:12 pm, when it will be present about 45 degrees above the northern horizon. Although you can see it with your naked eye, using a telescope or instrument will make viewing the comet much easier. It would be more convenient to watch this in a quiet and dark place away from the city lights as there would be no light pollution.
How will the view be seen while sitting at home?
The Green Comet has been shining in the sky since January and will pass between the orbits of Earth and Mars in the coming few days. During this, its speed will be 2,07,000 km per hour. In the Northern Hemisphere, it can be easily seen in a clear sky. If you’re in the city and don’t have a field of view, the event can also be seen in the Virtual Telescope Project’s livestream.
