These women demanded support from the concerned institutions to boom the market. Rokhsar, an Afghan woman investor, sought help from the Taliban. Rokhsar has more than four years of experience in handicraft.

Rokhsar further said that women should be supported so that they can stand on their own feet and progress further. Businessman Benafsha said that since the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan in August 2021, his business has seen a decline. Benafsha further said that the sales have come down due to the poor economic condition of the people. They cannot afford to buy our products. Also, he said that due to the closure of air corridors for women, our products are not sent abroad.
Taliban gave assurance of help
Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, a spokesman for the Taliban-led Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said the Taliban was committed to helping business women. We are working to solve the issues of women. Jawad said that we fully support those women who are engaged in handicraft business.
Preparing handicraft market for women
We are creating markets for their handicrafts both within and outside the country so that they can make a significant contribution as a powerful part of the country’s commerce sector. Meanwhile, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that women’s chambers of commerce are open in 16 provinces of Afghanistan, including Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Nuristan, Herat and Kabul.
