In the Indo-Pacific Prediction 2023 program organized in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, Kurt Campbell said that America and its allies are looking towards India. India is a country they would like to see play a greater role in the Indo-Pacific region. Campbell said, ‘It is in our interest that India plays a big and responsible role. Let him do everything that we are doing now.’ He said India, a member of the Quad along with the US, Japan and Australia, is presiding over the G-20 this year and would be the focus of US diplomacy.

US President Joe Biden’s assistant Kurt indicated that there are going to be more visits of the President and Vice President in the Indian Pacific region this year. India is going to organize a summit of G-20 countries in New Delhi in the month of September, in which Joe Biden will arrive to participate. Campbell said that the US is ready to help India reduce its dependence on Russian weapons. Right now 85 percent of India’s weapons are based on Russian origin. It is believed that this is the reason why India has not criticized Russia on the Ukraine war.
Campbell said, ‘We have stressed and clearly stated that the United States is ready to help India reduce its dependence on Russian weapons. We will work together with like-minded countries. He said that officials from India have met in recent times and their thinking and interests are similar to ours. Researcher Akhil Ramesh at the Pacific Forum said that India offers America an opportunity to connect with the Global South. The Global South includes poor and developing countries.

Ramesh said that the countries involved in the Global South know that India has strategic alliances with many countries, as a result of which they want New Delhi to play a leadership role in global problems such as vaccines or preventing disputes. He said that from the President of Mexico to the President of Ukraine Zelensky have held talks with PM Modi in the recent past. They want India to resolve the Ukraine Russia war peacefully. This week India has organized the first Vice of Global South summit. In this, the developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America were connected in a virtual way. America wants to increase its influence in these countries by having good relations with India.
