It was one of the deadliest bombings in Afghanistan in recent years. This blast increased the chaos already spreading in Kabul manifold. After this, US President Joe Biden had to face widespread criticism for the withdrawal of his troops from Afghanistan. A senior US administration official told POLITICO that the head of the Islamic State cell that planned the attack had been killed by the Taliban in recent weeks.
Biden withheld information
The official said that the US was not a part of this operation. He declined to give the timing of the operation or reveal the identity of the slain IS militant, citing “sensitivity”. ‘We do not have a partnership with the Taliban’
The senior official said, “We are not partnering with the Taliban but we feel results are more important.” As American troops left Afghanistan, Afghan soldiers succumbed to Taliban fighters, and in no time, the Taliban captured Kabul. Within a few days, more than 1,20,000 people were taken out of the country through airlift operations. People were so desperate to get out of Afghanistan that they even tried to escape by hanging from the plane on the runway. In this effort, some were killed by falling down from the plane flying in the sky.
