Imran Khan referred to the Prime Minister’s recent interview to a media organization of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in which he had expressed his desire for dialogue with India. He said Sharif is begging India for talks, but New Delhi is asking him to end terrorism first (then it can consider talking to Pakistan). Commenting on Sharif’s statement, India had said that it always wanted normal neighborly relations with Pakistan, but for such relations there should be an atmosphere free of terror and violence.
UAE will give a loan of two billion dollars to Pakistan
Imran Khan’s remarks came weeks after Sharif’s two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, during which the Gulf emirate agreed to extend an existing loan of $2 billion and an additional loan of $1 billion to meet the fast-decreasing Pakistan, which is facing financial crisis amid foreign exchange reserves, can be helped in dealing with the economic crisis.
Imran alleges attempt to kill him
Seventy-year-old Imran Khan further said that he was 100 per cent sure that Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Major-General Faisal Naseer, head of Pakistani intelligence agency ‘ISI Counter Intelligence Wing’, were behind the assassination attempt. He said, “I am now 100 per cent sure that Shehbaz and the other two whom I had named in the FIR, which could not be registered, conspired to kill me. It was a perfect plot, as three trained marksmen were sent to assassinate me. But it was the will of the almighty that I was saved.
Tight taunt on Pakistani army
Imran Khan was hit by three bullets during his party’s rally in Wazirabad area of Punjab province (about 150 km from Lahore) on November 3 last year. Asked whether the military establishment has become neutral after the retirement of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Khan said, “No, the military establishment is still not neutral.” Imran Khan asked the military establishment to learn from past mistakes and stay away from politics. Khan warned, “If the army continues to interfere in politics and free and fair elections are not held, there will be chaos and anarchy in the country, which no one could have imagined.”
