13-year-old Palestinian attacker arrested
Medical officials said a 47-year-old man and his 23-year-old son were wounded in the shooting today in East Jerusalem’s Silwan area. He told that both are fully conscious and their condition is slightly critical. Police said they retaliated and overpowered the 13-year-old assailant, who was taken to hospital with injuries. Nothing has been said about the condition of the attacker.
Israeli bombardment on Gaza
The day before, Israel bombed Gaza overnight in response to the rocket attacks. Israeli warplanes targeted a Hamas rocket factory and training center in the Gaza Strip. Hamas fired the rockets in response to clashes with Israeli forces at the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank that killed 10 Palestinian civilians. Among the dead in Jenin were 10 Palestinian armed fighters and three civilians.
Violence before US Secretary of State’s visit
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to visit Israel next week. America is considered close to Israel. In such a situation, the Palestinians want to attract the attention of the whole world before this visit. Israel had claimed that it had raided the Jenin camp following intelligence input.
