Ukraine’s military is carrying out attacks without fear of retaliation from Russia. Russia has not been able to destroy even a single Himars system. Joseph Stalin, the former dictator of the Soviet Union, termed this artillery as the ‘god of war’. In the war in Ukraine this old ‘god of war’ has failed and a new one has been born. This new weapon is a long range precision strike artillery like Himars. Russian difficulty has also increased because with the help of air defense systems given by NATO countries including America, Germany, Italy, Ukraine is successfully destroying Russian missiles on the way.
Experts say that the war in Ukraine has taught military strategists that artillery is still important in the war, but the current artillery is breathless in front of the advanced weapons capable of accurate attack and destruction at a longer distance. Russia has developed the Iskander missile and the Kinzhal hypersonic missile to beat Western weapons and deliver precision strikes. Russia has used both these missiles extensively in Ukraine. Russia has spent a lot of money on 155 mm Koalitsia cannons. It can fire 16 shells every minute. Russia has also made drones and T-14 tanks, but right now it is in a dilemma about the future war. The more advanced Russian weapons are, the easier it will be for Western countries to jam them. Russia currently has 4,894 guns.
India has a very tough choice, Pak-China’s dangerous move
According to print reports, India has also been engaged in modernizing its artillery for the past several years. India is currently facing a huge shortage of artillery and the army will be able to reach the target made in the year 1999 by the year 2040. India has bought M777 cannon from America which has been deployed in the mountains on the China border. At the same time, India has bought the K9 Vajra cannon from South Korea. Apart from this, India is buying indigenous cannon. Although it will still take 3 to 4 years. India has developed the Pinaka rocket launcher and already has the Smerch system bought from Russia. Now the work is going on to increase the range of Pinaka from 75 to 125 km. India is competing with China which has the world’s largest missile force. China has 2200 conventional and cruise missiles. India’s concern is not only China but also Pakistan. Pakistan is buying arms on a large scale from China. Pakistan is buying the SH-15 cannon from China which can fire small nuclear warheads.
