Washington (EMS). Due to the ongoing war with Ukraine, Russia has lost about 90 percent of its army. This claim has been made in the report of the US Intelligence Department. It is noteworthy that Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022. It has been almost 22 months, but the war is not ending. It is obvious that in the war that has been going on for so long, there have been many casualties on both sides. Recently the American intelligence agency shared its assessment with Congress (Parliament). This provides insight into the serious impact the war against Ukraine could have on Russia’s military capabilities. According to a media report, about 90 percent of Russia’s pre-war army was lost due to death or injury, with thousands of battle tanks destroyed.
In this case, an assessment received from a congressional source suggests that Moscow’s 360,000-strong army was launched to invade Ukraine in February 2022. But in that period, 315,000 Russian military personnel have been killed or injured. It is being told that this is 87 percent of Moscow’s pre-war army of 360,000. Apart from this, Russia’s tank force has also suffered a severe blow. Before the war it had 3,500 tanks. But out of that, 2,200 tanks have either been destroyed or missing. These are about two-thirds of the total number. Although it was already known that President Vladimir Putin’s forces had suffered significant losses in Ukraine.
Let us tell you that this assessment provides new and detailed information about the Russian army. The release of the assessment coincides with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Washington, where he continues to advocate for US military aid. The report also assessed that troop and tank losses caused by Ukrainian forces have set Russia’s military modernization back by 18 years. However, the Russian Embassy did not immediately respond to this.
