The Government of India had given a line of credit for this bridge. The Indian Embassy said that this is an important step in the direction of cooperation between India and Bangladesh. This bridge has been built at a cost of 4000 crore Bangladeshi Taka. It is believed that from this month, trains will start running on this biggest rail bridge in Bangladesh. Experts believe that with the construction of this bridge, now Bangladesh’s economy will get a lot of momentum. Not only this, tourism will also get a boost in the Sundarbans.
Indian company Larsen & Toubro built a bridge over Rupsa river
With the help of this rail bridge, now the movement of goods will increase till Mongla port. This will increase economic activities. In this the industrialization of the south-west region of the country will increase. Experts say that after the construction of this bridge, now the supply of goods to India, Nepal and Bhutan will be done very easily and at a low price. Not only this, tourists from Bangladesh and India, Bhutan, Nepal will be able to easily travel to the Sundarbans. This entire Khulna- Mongla railway project is divided into 3 parts.
The total length of the railway line under this project will be 86.87 km. Indian company Larsen & Toubro has built this bridge on the river Rupsa. While the rest of the part has been made by the Indian company Irkan International. The cost of this entire project includes acquisition of land and construction of railway line. It is the longest railway bridge in Bangladesh. The work of building this bridge started in the year 2017.
