London : British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has apologized for taking off his seatbelt while driving in north-west England to make a video. Sunak’s Downing Street (Prime Minister’s Office) spokesman said on Thursday that he had only briefly unbuckled his seatbelt and that he accepted that he had made a mistake. In the UK, there is an instant fine of £100 for not wearing a ‘seat belt’ in a car. This fine rises to £500 if the matter goes to court. There are times when seat belts are exempted for valid medical reasons.
Sunak’s spokesman said, ‘It was a minor error in his judgement. The Prime Minister had removed his seat belt to make a short video. He fully accepts his mistake and apologises. The spokesperson said, “The Prime Minister believes that everyone should wear seat belts.” Sunak made this video to announce the ‘Leveling Up Fund’ to fund over 100 projects across the country.

‘Sunak does not know how to handle the economy’
In the video, questioning police personnel on motorcycles are seen around his car. Targeting Sunak, a spokesperson of the opposition Labor Party said, “Rishi Sunak does not know how to wear seat belts, use debit cards, train service, manage the economy in this country.” Every day this list is getting longer and it is very sad to see it. Significantly, in a video that surfaced a few days ago, Sunak was seen struggling to make contactless payments with his card.
