    Price of sugar higher than petrol in Pakistan, public suffering due to inflation

People are suffering due to inflation, the situation has become so bad that sugar is being available at the rate of Rs 150 per kg and petrol at Rs 146 per litre. Imran Khan’s government has increased petrol prices by Rs 8.14. At the same time, the opposition has opened a front against the government regarding inflation.

    According to Pakistani media, the government has assured to take necessary steps to control the inflation of food items, but inflation is not being controlled. Sugar has gone up to Rs 150 per kg. In the wholesale market, the price of sugar increased by Rs.8 per kg, in bulk sugar is being sold by Rs.140 per kg, while in the retail market its price increased from Rs.145 to Rs.150. The prices of things like rice, flour, pulses have also increased significantly.

    Opposition attacked
    In Pakistan, opposition Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif has called the Rs 12 billion relief package released by Imran Khan in recent days a lie. Attacking the government, he said that, like all the promises and budget of Imran Khan, this relief package is also a bundle of lies.

    Opposition raised questions
    Shehbaz Sharif questioned, “Was it not claimed while announcing the federal budget that it is a tax-free budget. Now in his address to the nation, the Prime Minister is talking about increasing the price of petrol in the national interest. What is the strategy made by the Imran government to control the rising inflation, when it is talking about increasing the prices of petrol, electricity and gas.

    Pakistan is buried under heavy debt. The country is troubled by the terms of the IMF due to debt. On the other hand, Sharif termed the Imran government as useless and said, “There is only 15 days’ stock of sugar left in the country. What will happen next? The government does not know this. Imran Khan does nothing except talk big.
