If reports are to be believed then Ramzan may start from 23rd or 24th March. Presiding over a review meeting, the Pak PM said that in the first phase of the special Ramzan package, free flour would be given to the needy people of Punjab, Pakistani news website Geo TV reported. He also directed the concerned officials to prepare a policy at the earliest to provide free flour to the poor families under the package.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the federal government would provide all possible assistance to the provinces to provide relief to the people under the Ramzan package on the lines of the Punjab model. The package is first of its kind which aims to facilitate the poor section of the society. Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil briefed Shehbaz about the Ramzan package. Shahbaz Sharif is going to give free flour when the hungry Pakistani people have descended on anarchy.

Highest inflation in 50 years
Shahbaz Sharif had last month directed officials to take action against hoarders. Stuck in the quagmire of economic crisis, Pakistan is facing long queues for every kilo of flour. A 20 kg packet of flour is being sold for Rs.2800. The situation is getting worse due to stoppage of wheat supply in Quetta, Balochistan. The inflation rate in the country has reached 31.5 percent, which is at its highest level in 50 years. The public is buying milk at Rs 150/l, chicken at Rs 550/kg and rice at Rs 213/kg.
