Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday called on the Bain Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) to stick to the promises made with the government. He warned TLP that if the group fails to do so “things will be out of my hands. In fact, after the arrest of the TLP leader, people who came out in his support are also seen becoming uncontrollable. There are continuous protests on the streets of Pakistan and slogans are being raised against the current government which is troubling the Pakistan government.
Will not allow country to be held hostage – Pak Minister
The minister spoke about the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan protest during a TV program. During the show, the minister clearly said that the government would stop the organization from entering Islamabad. He urged the protesters to return and said the state would have no option but to “establish its authority”. The minister said that while the government does not want violence, Prime Minister Imran Khan will not allow the country to be held hostage. Addressing the TLP protesters, the minister said that your loss is our loss.

He further said that the organization talked about the finality of the Prophet, which all Muslims believed in. Why don’t you believe us when we say that the French envoy has left the country? He said that Pakistan is the center of Islam and harming the country will not serve the religion in any way. “PM Imran is the first person who constituted the Rahmatulil Almeen Authority and took the country towards making Medina-like welfare state. Let us inform that now Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan has been banned in Pakistan, now they will be seen as terrorist organizations. The government has made it clear that it is committed to the elimination of this organization. Also, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has said to ban all those channels which will cover the activities of TLP.
