According to the report of Economic Times, Pakistan has signed a deal of 1.5 million dollars with Ukraine. Under this, the engine of MI-17 helicopter will be supplied to Pakistan. Apart from this, Ukraine will also give parts of this powerful helicopter of Russian origin to Pakistan. Ukraine’s defense company Motor Sich JSC will supply these engines to the Pakistan Army. With this deal, both Ukraine and Pakistan are taking their defense relations to new heights.
Pakistan has been buying weapons from Ukraine for a long time
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine has promised Pakistan that it will upgrade its Mi-17 helicopters in return for Pakistan’s ammunition and tanks. A Ukrainian company that manufactures helicopter engines and industrial marine gas turbines is helping Pakistan upgrade its helicopters. Ukraine and Pakistan have close military and industrial ties.
Pakistan had bought more than 320 T-80 UD tanks from Ukraine many years back which are still in service. Pakistan has the necessary ecosystem to keep these tanks in service. Between 1991 and 2020, Ukraine signed a $1.6 billion deal with Pakistan. On one hand, Pakistan is giving weapons to Ukraine, on the other hand, like India, it is now buying cheap crude oil from Russia. He has also made an agreement with Russia.
