A private group brought the tank to Berlin and reported that it was on display at the Military History Museum of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Wieland Geibel, a member of the Berlin Story Group, one of the organizers of the exhibition, said, “The whole world should see that there are too many people in Germany who stand with Ukraine, so we donated the scrapped Russian tank to their (Russian) Embassy.” Serbia’s government has good relations with Russia and has refused to join Western sanctions against Moscow. However, police in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, had to stop an anti-war group that was marching towards the Russian embassy.
Demand to prosecute Putin
Activists of an anti-war group wanted to take to the embassy their demand to prosecute Russian President Vladimir Putin for genocide for the Ukraine war. He left a cake against the war that was painted bloody and had the shape of a skull on it, near the Russian embassy in Belgrade. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak came out of his official residence-cum-office 10 Downing Street and observed silence in memory of the war dead along with the Ambassador of Ukraine and some of the Ukrainian soldiers undergoing training in Britain. Britain’s King Charles III issued a message praising the “remarkable courage and fighting spirit” of the people of Ukraine.
No special events were held in Moscow on Friday to mark the anniversary of the Ukraine war and Russians celebrated a long holiday. Police went to the homes of activists in some areas and warned against any kind of demonstration, as authorities clamped down on any voice of protest. The anniversary of the Ukraine war was also celebrated in Asia. Peace rallies were taken out in Seoul, the capital of South Korea and Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Ukrainian citizens living in Thailand gathered in front of their embassy in Bangkok.
Anniversary celebrated in Paris
About 50 people dressed in the colors of the Ukrainian flag sang the national anthem while embassy officials raised the flag. Many people were seen sobbing as the Ambassador in Charge of the Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand was giving a speech. On this occasion, the Ambassador-in-Charge appealed to his citizens to remain strong. Events on the anniversary of the war began on Thursday evening and the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Parliament of Portugal in Lisbon were illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The famous Opera House in Australia’s Sydney city was illuminated on Friday in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
