Russian media Sputnik quoted Yuri as saying that Russia has already supplied 270 Sukhoi fighter jets to India. He said that many parts of these Sukhoi aircraft have been made in India only. He said that we want to have a long term cooperation with India so that additional aircraft can be supplied. He also expressed hope that Russia will get the deal of 114 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force. Russia has offered its MiG-35 fighter jet which can be made in India’s HAL plant only.
Russia sold arms worth $13 billion to India in 5 years
Russia has contributed a lot in India’s HAL plant. He also said that Russia and India could enter into an agreement on joint production of the Russian aircraft Sukhoi Superjet. Russia wants the Sukhoi Superjet to be mass-produced in India. Yuri said that this Russian aircraft is a 100-seater and there can be a huge demand for it in India. He said that Russia is ready to extend every cooperation in this direction. China has increased its closeness with Russia during the Ukraine war.
It has become a reality that Russia has now become China’s junior partner in many matters. Amidst the ongoing tension with India, China had pressurized Russia not to provide lethal weapons. However, Russia has not backed down yet. Let us inform that in the last 5 years, Russia has supplied arms worth $13 billion to India. Right now, an order of arms worth $10 billion has been placed by India to Russia. India is dependent on about 60 per cent of Russian arms. At the same time, western countries including America are pressurizing India to reduce the purchase of arms from Russia. Even after this, India is still continuing to buy weapons from Russia.
