Nawaz Sharif: On October 21, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif will fly back to Pakistan from London. This would end his self-exile of more than four years in Britain. It is being told that he will lead the party’s election campaign in the upcoming elections. Nawaz’s younger brother and former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced on Tuesday (September 13) that Nawaz would visit Pakistan on October 21. It is well known that Shahbaz is currently in London.
Nawaz Sharif returning to Pakistan after four years
Let us tell you that since November 2019, 73-year-old Nawaz Sharif is living in exile in London. In 2018, he was found guilty in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases. In the Al Azizia Mills case, he was serving a 7-year jail sentence in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail, but in 2019 he was allowed to travel to London on “medical grounds”. According to the report, Nawaz Sharif had earlier said that considering the current economic situation, he would need to go back to his supporters and voters.
Younger brother Shahbaz announced his return home
On Tuesday, Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of top PML-N officials in London. Shahbaz then announced in a statement that the party founder would be given a triumphant welcome on his return home. Shehbaz Sharif, 71, had earlier said that Nawaz would become the next prime minister if the party returned to power in the general elections. Last August, Shahbaz had said that his elder brother would return to Pakistan in September. He is coming to face his pending court cases and lead the party’s campaign for the general elections.
