Washington : US Congressional Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s plane has landed in Taiwan. This is the first visit by a top US official to Taiwan in 25 years. Apart from this, this is Nancy Pelosi’s first visit to Taiwan. Nancy Pelosi has issued her statement after landing in Taiwan. “The visit of our congressional delegation demonstrates America’s commitment to supporting Taiwan’s vibrant democracy,” Pelosi said.

He further said, “Our visit is part of a wider visit to the Indo-Pacific, including Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan, focusing on mutual security, economic partnership and democratic governance. Our dialogue with the leaders of Taiwan will focus on reaffirming our support for our partner (Taiwan) and promoting our common interests, including advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

America will oppose unilateral efforts
“America’s solidarity with Taiwan’s 23 million people is more important today than ever, as the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy,” he added. “Our visit is one of several congressional delegations to Taiwan and does not in any way contradict America’s policy,” he added. America will continue to oppose unilateral attempts to change the status quo.

Pelosi did not bow down to China’s threat
US Congressional Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan’s capital Taipei on Tuesday at 8.15 pm Indian time. On behalf of the US Defense Ministry, he was transported to Taiwan through Air Force aircraft C-40C SPAR19 amidst tight security. Before his arrival in Taiwan, China had made several threats that it would not allow Pelosi’s plane to land.
