The Agra Summit failed after Musharraf’s stubborn stand. According to the report of The Express Tribune, Musharraf was about to deal with India in the year 2007 during the time of Dr. Manmohan Singh on Sir Creek and Siachen. According to the report, Manmohan Singh was also going to visit Pakistan for this. Apart from this, behind the scenes talks between the two countries had progressed a lot regarding Kashmir. Both the countries were discussing to find a solution to Kashmir out of the box.
According to the report, a 4-point formula was worked out under which the LoC was made irrelevant, joint control of the disputed area, free movement of people of Kashmir and PoK and gradual withdrawal of troops. Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri had revealed in his book that both the countries were about to make a deal. The Pakistani newspaper said that when Manmohan Singh’s visit to Pakistan was being planned, Musharraf made a mistake and removed the then Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Mahmood Chaudhry in March 2007.
After this, the lawyers of Pakistan got agitated and the top generals of the Pakistan Army gave their full support to this whole movement. After this Musharraf finally had to step down from power. This general did not want Musharraf to make any agreement with India regarding Kashmir. For this reason, he fueled the movement against Musharraf.
