Forced conversion biggest problem in Sindh
The victim said that after being released from the clutches of the kidnappers, she returned home. Kidnapping and forced conversion of Hindu girls has become a major problem in the hinterland of Sindh. People of Hindu community mainly live in Thar, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Ghotki and Khairpur areas. Most of the members of the Hindu community in these areas are laborers.
Last year also many girls were abducted
In June last year, Hindu girl Karina Kumari told a court here that she was forcibly converted to Islam and married to a Muslim man. In March last year, three Hindu girls—Satran Od, Kavita Bhil and Anita Bhil—were abducted, forced to convert to Islam and married off to Muslim men within eight days.
Hindu girls being victims of atrocities in Pakistan
In another case, Pooja Kumari was brutally shot dead outside her house at Rohri in Sukkur on March 21 last year. Not only girls, but even older Hindu women have been victims of abduction and forced conversion. Ghori Kohli, a mother of four, was abducted from Khipro in Sindh and later learned that she had converted to Islam. The woman was married to Ejaz Marri, the accused in her kidnapping.
